Fortune and Fame Reaching Out Globally

Updated: May 22, 2023

These really are exciting times for us all here at Fortune and Fame, as our reach extends out to new horizons.

Stats provided by Amazon show how the book has become established alongside titles which feature globally-known names.

For example, we are thrilled to report that our paperback and hardcover are currently bestsellers in the rugby category on the U.S. Amazon site.

Other names to feature on this list include New Zealand’s iconic outside half Dan Carter. A giant of Rugby Union.

Carter stands alongside Barry John and Phil Bennett amongst the top “no 10s'' the world has ever seen. Carter played for the triumphant New Zealand “All Blacks'' in their Rugby World Cup winning teams of 2011 and 2015. He was named IRB Player of the Year in 2005, 2012 and 2015 and scored a total of 1,598 points in 112 appearances for the giants of the Southern Hemisphere. Carter is, quite simply, a giant of the modern game. It is an honour to sit alongside him on the Amazon lists.

The book is also in the company of some very, VERY big names in the ‘soccer’ category.

Just look at the list of names we feature alongside.

Who gets your vote as GOAT in the round ball game? Messi, Ronaldo, Pele? They are all battling to outsell Power at the moment as our pictures show.

Our co-author David Collins was lucky enough to report on Lionel Messi’s heroics in Qatar 2022. The Argentinian hero added the World Cup to his long list of existing honours, cementing his world-wide reputation. The PSG man is battling alongside clubmate Neymar in the list of Amazon best sellers, with both South American superstars looking over their shoulders at Jonathan Power in the sales charts.

2022 saw us lose a true giant of the beautiful game.

Pele was noted for his talent, pace, and scoring ability, and is largely considered as one of the finest players in the history of soccer. He played for numerous teams during his career, including Santos F.C. and the New York Cosmos. The great man won three World Cups for Brazil, helping to secure the Brazilians in the hearts of football followers across the globe.

As a 17-year old, he broke Welsh hearts with a goal against Wales in the 1958 World Cup. His biography now faces more stiff Welsh competition as Jonathan’s book powers its way up the rankings.

Megan Rapinoe also features alongside our title in the Amazon lists. Rapinoe is probably the highest profile female footballer in the world. In November 2020 she published her autobiography, One Life, which describes her early life, career highlights and setbacks, her activism for racial and gender equality, and her personal relationships. The star of US soccer has a remarkable story to tell.

Messi, Pele, Rapinoe, Neymar…..and Power. That’s some line-up!

Unsurprisingly, US sports also feature alongside our own book in these fascinating lists.

Sandy Koufax is an American former left-handed baseball pitcher who played for the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers from 1955 to 1966. He is without doubt one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history. The award-winning former Washington Post sportswriter Jane Leavy reveals what drove the three-time Cy Young award winner to the top tier of baseball, and later into self-imposed exile.

The Wall Street Journal described Leavy’s title “Sandy Koufax: A Lefty’s Legacy” as an absorbing book, beautifully written.” Time Magazine describes it as “more than a biography.” This fascinating work considers how we create our heroes, and how this hero's self-perception distinguishes him from nearly every other great athlete in living memory. Like Jonathan’s book, it is about much more than sport, and contemplates some big questions.

Also rubbing shoulders with Jonathan’s book is the inspiring story of six-time world surfing champion, actor, and American heartthrob Kelly Slater. He has won more world championships than any other competitor, and he continues to drive change about attitudes to life on a surfboard. His own story of fame and fortune includes a stint on Baywatch, and a high-profile relationship with Pamela Anderson. Not bad for a lad from a broken home in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Everyone at Fortune and Fame is to be thrilled to sit alongside such international names.

There is growing, global interest in the book. Have you ordered your copy yet?

Fortune and Fame is now on sale, with proceeds donated to Velindre Cancer Centre.
