Fortune & Fame: Supporting Local Bookshops

Updated: Jun 2, 2023

The Fortune & Fame team are delighted with the book sales we’ve seen processing through our on-line channels, since we published just before Christmas in 2022.

It’s been a real thrill to watch the sales figures increase, as more and more of you have ordered and received your copies through the wonder of modern technology.

We’ve also enjoyed reading some of the terrific reviews posted on-line, alongside other positive feedback via our social media platforms.

In this modern digital age however, we have not forgotten the appeal of browsing through an actual, physical copy of the book itself - before making a purchase in a traditional, local bookstore.

We are therefore delighted to report that a number of bookshops in around South Wales are now stocking physical copies of Fortune and Fame.

Our friends at Wellfield Bookshop were especially quick off the mark to put copies on their shelves. Established in 1982, this family run, independent bookshop is one of the few remaining in Cardiff.

Pop along to Wellfield Road, in the heart of Roath to pick up your copy while stocks last. We have even signed a few!

On the other side of the city, Siop y Felin in Whitchurch has been established for 25 years, making it the oldest Welsh language bookshop in the capital.

As proud Welshmen, Jonathan and his co-author David Collins were especially pleased to reach out to the Welsh language community and see the book hit the shelves here too.

Diolch Siân am gefnogi Fortune and Fame. Diolch am werthu y llyfr hefyd!

Outside of the city boundaries, why not enjoy a trip to Penarth in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan. You can pick up a copy of Fortune and Fame at Penarth’s only independent bookshop, where the team at Griffin Books in the bustling heart of this seaside town are dedicated to finding the perfect book for every customer.

Not all our readers come from the cities and towns of South Wales of course; London based fans can pick up their copy of Fortune and Fame at the unique Battersea Bookshop, an independent bookshop situated within the spectacular environment of the iconic Battersea Power Station.

Author Jonathan Power said:

“I am so thrilled to support independent retailers. The Fortune and Fame story is a testament to how hard working, independent ventures can succeed with the right amount of business acumen, drive and determination.”

“I am also very pleased that we are catering for the traditional book buying market in addition to our on-line customers.”

“The book is obtainable from outlets in the United States such as Barnes & Noble and Walmart, across Europe, South Africa, Japan and even Australia. These really are very exciting times for Fortune and Fame”.

Fortune and Fame is now on sale, with proceeds donated to Velindre Cancer Centre.
